Robin “Jinx” Burton-Jenkins

Firefighter Robin Burton-Jenkins was someone the members of Engine 319 and Escambia County Fire-Rescue will never forget.  Robin was born and raised in London, England and served 16 years with Her Majesty’s Royal Army and Royal Najenk5vy as a decorated member of the Special Air Services.  Robin moved to America in 1996 to join his wife Karen where they had two sons Ryan and Christian. Jinx started with Escambia County Fire-Rescue in 2000 as a volunteer fireman.  It didn’t take long for Jinx to complete the required training certifications in order to be qualified for full time employment as a career firefighter.  Jinx was an original member of the 24-hour shift on Engine 319 making the transition from daytime to full time fire protection for central Escambia County.  Jinx’s abilities as a tough fireman, witty jokester and creative prankster made him a cherished friend that we all enjoyed being around, on and off duty.

In 2004 Robin moved his family to Kissimmee, FL for a better opportunity to pursue his and Karen’s professional careers.  Robin was an exemplary member of the Kissimmee Fire Department family, serving at station 11.  He was a member of the Special Operations team and was the Driver/Operator of Squad 11.

Robin’s life came to a tragic and untimely end on October 6, 2006. While riding his motorcycle on his way home from completing a tour, he was struck by a vehicle.

Anyone who knew Robin knew his wife and two sons were always in his heart and on his mind.  He was a fine example of what a husband and father should be and has left an enduring legacy that we could all strive to achieve.

Robin is greatly missed and will always be in our hearts.
