Escambia County Fire & Rescue Engine 319

Engine Company 319 was put in service to assist the volunteers of the Brent Fire Department during the daytime hours of 0700-1600 hrs Monday-Friday in 2001. Sometime in April of 2003 the Fire Chief of ECFR made the determination that there was not adequate fire protection in the Brent fire district when the career crew was off duty. It was requested that two other daytime engines (E-619 Ensley & E-1719 West Pensacola) be moved to Station 3 for guaranteed 24/7 fire protection to the Brent area and surrounding fire districts. Since that time the crews of E-319's 3 shifts have enjoyed the more traditional fire service schedule of 24/48 hour shifts. The crew of E-319 have the highest single engine call volume for Escambia County to include the City of Pensacola FD, and are quite possible the busiest engine company in the Florida panhandle , with a 3 year average of over 1850 calls per year. Fort Walton Beach Truck 6 is the busiest company with over 2600 call for the past couple of years. It may not sound like that many, but considering we are not dispatched to medical calls except certain Delta level calls or in the rare occurrence when EMS is not immediately available. Engine 319 basically runs fure related calls (house fires, commercial fires,  vehicle fires, brush fires, trash fires, activated fire alarms, etc.) and very few medical calls (motor vehicle accidents, cardiac arrests, electrocution, etc.) E-319 sees quite a bit of fire action.

The Engine Company Patch

The 3 crews of Eng.319 determined that they needed their own patch to display their pride and ownership of the job. A member of Engine 319 "B" shift, Firefighter Robin Burton-Jenkins decided that he would lead the project. Being that he was born and raised in England, he saw it fit that the main mascot should be a Bulldog. After creating a unique patch, all 3 crews agreed that it was Robin's artwork that would forever adorn the fire apparatus and gear worn by the crew members of Engine 319. With permission from the fire chief the crew had the patch placed in service. To this day, the current crews of Engine 319 proudly wear the patches on their turnout coats and t-shirts that bear the bulldog patch.
